So I know I’ve been hemming and hawing about these jeans that I picked up last week from Target -but you guys- THEY ARE SO GOOD!!! They are my holy grail affordable denim, and I find myself reaching for these over my more expensive jeans. I look for a few things when it comes to my denim, and these fit the bill on all fronts. They are part of Target’s Universal Thread line, and to say I am obsessed is an understatement.
How many washes are available?
One of the main things I love about Universal Thread jeans (and shorts too!) are the variety of washes they come in. I love the difference between the three I just bought. I got a true standard medium-dark wash blue, a more warm toned and even darker wash blue, and then just a great all around light-medium wash.
I love that the washes don’t look overly fake or cheap either. So often you’ll find affordable denim and it looks like it’s been attacked with a can of spray paint to get that “worn-in” distressing or whiskering. These have just the right amount and it is one of my favorite things about them.
Do they hold their shape?
How many times have you put on a pair of jeans and within a few hours you look like you’ve got a sagging booty… that look is just NOT CUTE! I also hate when my jeans stretch out around the knees and bunch up, what even is that?!?
Unless I’ve gotten really hot or sweaty these never really lose their shape, and I thank them forever for that. They can be worn SEVERAL (I’m not going to tell you how many times) before they can be washed, which helps them to last a LOT longer!
Do they stretch?
Being a mom to a crazy active three year old girl means that I want some stretch in my clothes like 98% of the time. I have been trying to lose a few pounds lately and tried these on one size down from my usual and they fit like a glove! Not a crazy uncomfortable, just jammed it over my knuckles kind, but the kind of glove that you forget you are wearing.
Universal Thread in general fits me really well. I am pear shaped and around 5’7″ tall. The regular inseam is just right for me and I don’t get that weird gap at the back of my waist which I sometimes find by the time the jeans fit my rear.
How will these affect my wallet?
I got my jeans on sale for $15-20, but even at $24-29 regular price they are a STEAL!!! I don’t think you can find much more affordable denim than that. Not that look as nice as they do anyway. I use to be an American Eagle die hard fan, but ever since I’ve discovered the Universal Thread jeans from Target, I’ll never go back. Unless they stop making them, but please let us pray they don’t…
I just love them, truly…
In a nutshell, run don’t walk to snag some of these amazing jeans. They look great, feel fantastic, and last incredibly well. I have a few pair that don’t even have any wear on the inner thigh (because I was definitely NOT blessed with a thigh gap). The only reason I bought some more was because my old jeans were falling down, but hey, that isn’t such a bad problem to have right?!? Target is already the most magical place on earth a budget loving everyday toddler mom, and these jeans are just one of the many reasons why!
